Emerging Exporter Award
DEFINITION: This award recognises a business that completed its first commercial export sale or international service contract during the 18 months immediately preceding the application closing date.
ELIGIBILITY (for the purpose of this award): start-ups or established businesses of any size that completed their first international sale within the preceding 18 months. They must demonstrate early export success, international market traction and credible potential for sustainable overseas growth.

- Who it’s for: start-ups or established businesses of any size that are new to exporting.
- Eligibility (for the purpose of this award): your first international sale must have been completed within the 18 months before the application closing date.
- What you must demonstrate: early export success, international market traction and credible potential for sustainable overseas growth.
- What you’ll be asked for: information in three areas: overall results, market knowledge and marketing efforts, and internationalisation and innovation capacity.
- Judging focus: a USP with high growth potential carries more weight in this category than in others.
To Apply
In the online application form, you will be asked to provide the following information.
1. Overall Results of the Company
- Company details and a brief description of the company’s activities.
- Audited financial statements for the past three years. The commissioned auditors will calculate growth and profitability metrics based on the submitted accounts.
- International revenue as a percentage of turnover, verified by a Certified Public Accountant.
- Growth in markets and/or clients.
- Investment in internationalisation.
2. Market Knowledge & Marketing Efforts
- A description of the company’s Unique Selling Proposition (USP).
- International marketing and business development efforts undertaken.
- The number of international markets in which the company is present.
- The market segmentation underpinning the company’s choice of markets.
- The networks established in the target market(s).
Note: In this category, a USP with high growth potential is weighted higher than in other categories.
3. Internationalisation & Innovation Capacity and Future Plans
- Human resources dedicated to internationalisation.
- The company’s innovation capacity.
- Future plans for internationalisation.
